Shane Smith pledged a slate of 20 shows for Vice’s forthcoming venture, which is widely assumed to be a cable network but hasn’t been officially announced.
At a Newfront presentation in New York, the Vice Media CEO presented show titles including F— That’s Delicious, With Action Bronson, Vice World of Sports and a show about LGBT issues with Ellen Page.
Smith was joined onstage by filmmaker Spike Jonze.
On Tuesday, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that A+E Networks and Vice were talks to rebrand the H2 channel as a Vice-branded network for 2016. No further details were given in the NewFront presentation.
However, a Los Angeles Times report noted a possible reason why the cable network has yet to be confirmed: A+E Networks has yet to finalize a carriage deal with DirecTV.
